Femme Friday Favorites / January 5th
Sarah here. I want to share some of my favorite things lately...
Chels and I have started creating our monthly intentions... and I am loving it. I haven't been perfect at completing my intentions, however, the act of being mindful of my goals creates a tension in my life to keep moving forward. I share often that I struggle with finding a balance between physical goals (weight/fitness/perfect eating) and being mentally healthy (not over restricting or binging/healthy body image). I try to make my goals in the realm of relational, fiscal, mind-growth, and small steps to my big dreams -- and I am doing so out of a place of self-love pulling me to a better place, rather than self-hatred pushing me to a frantic state.
New Skincare Products + My Thrive Order
Raise your hand if you have acne with a mind of its own *raises hand.* I have been through Accutane (read my journey here), Rodan & Fields, and just about every antibiotic script and OTC acne system. I decided to go non-toxic about a year ago. Have I been healed? Heck no. But, I wouldn't have been what they call "fixed" with toxic medication or products either. I have found products that help + work. Following encouraging and REAL accounts like Priscilla of CocoKind and @myfacestory has helped with my expectations.
Here are products that have made a significant improvement in my skin:
Cocokind's Organic Matcha Face Moisturizer ($15.49)
Cypress Beauty's Illuminating Mask ($29)
Cocokind's Organic Chlorophyll Mask ($18.99)
* I also use CocoKind's Facial Cleansing Oil, Rosewater Tiner, and Tea Tree Oil on breakouts.
Here are new products in my beauty lineup:
Turmeric Spot Treatment
Alba Acnedote Deep Pore Wash
Jojoba Oil for a body moisturizer
Multi-Tasker Medium Concealer
>> Please note I am a bargain shopper! I have added some of the prices. I have found a lot of savings by using my Thrive membership, checking TJ Maxx, or by signing up for company emails and waiting for a coupon!
My only non-skincare Thrive item was this Epic Bone Broth I have been eying. I will let you know how it goes! *If* you buy a lot of non-toxic products and specialty food items, I would highly suggest Thrive. Their prices are simply lower AND you can wait until they offer an additional 25% coupon. I buy a lot of my products as low as 50% off what I could get straight from the company. If you want to try Thrive, use this code for 25% off and I get some Thrive bucks too!
Staying Organized + Balanced
2017 had some of the highest highs (founding True Co. with Chels) and lowest lows. Last year completely broke me of my "I completely control my circumstances" mentality. While I still believe my actions (or lack of) control a lot of my outcomes, I have also learned that sometimes the only thing I can control is how I choose to move forward and how much mental space I let a hurt take up in my mind.
I am loving Candidly Keri's desktop background for my workspace. Making my workspace beautiful and functional makes my days more productive. My husband and I heavily utilize iCal to keep track of our plans - we've done this over a year and it has helped our marriage and communication of our plan, bills, and deadlines.
Mentally, I have been rewiring myself. I am naturally a troubleshooter by design. I love to look at something and find where it can be better. This is my strength and my Achilles heel. As I am getting older, I am learning I can't view people or unchangeable situations this way. When I look at a friend or in the mirror, I am being more mindful to see the good before what can be fixed. And while I am still flaunting my troubleshooting strength when it comes to decision making, I have decided to choose joy and peace with the unchangeable. 2018 will be the year I perfect my ability to live in my strength to what "could be" without ruining the beauty of "what is."
New Threads + Hairs
I've been digging American Eagle + Aerie lately. I just got two shirts for 60% off - both keep my #GRLPWR vibes strong. Go buy all the things now because they are cute and they make clothes for bodies of different shapes and sizes.
And last, NEW HAIRS. Thanks to Kait for my balayage. You can check out her work here.
